POSITION SUMMARY
The Mobile/Specialty Care Transport Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering 911 Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support in emergency situations to the community and its surroundings, under the guidance of a Medical Command Physician.
The RN holds accountability for the Advanced Life Support requirements of patients during inter-facility transport, which includes thorough assessment and medication administration in line with verbal directives and established protocols.
It is the RN's duty to ensure that the emergency vehicle, along with its equipment and inventory, is adequately stocked, sanitized, and in optimal working condition at the commencement of each shift.
The RN provides Advanced Life Support in pre-hospital environments for patients, working collaboratively with a patient care team under the supervision of a Medical Command Physician.
Accountability for the Advanced Life Support needs of pre-hospital patients includes comprehensive assessment and medication administration according to verbal and written protocols.
This role contributes to the organization's objectives by delivering exceptional customer service, engaging in performance enhancement initiatives, and showcasing a commitment to teamwork, education, and collaboration.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Must be a graduate of a NLN accredited School of Nursing. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
LICENSE:
CERTIFICATION:
Must possess a current nursing license in New Jersey. Current MICN and/or MICP certifications are preferred. Current ACLS certification is mandatory.
Certification in one of the following:
CEN, CCRN, or CTRN, PALS or PEPP, as well as PHTLS or ITLS.
NRP:
Required for MICN endorsement (new hires may start employment and fulfill necessary requirements through AtlantiCare to obtain MICN endorsement and required certifications. These requirements must be completed successfully within 3 months of hire for employment to continue). A valid New Jersey Driver's License is required. Proof of completion of National Incident Command Courses ICS 100 and IS 700 is necessary.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of two to five years of critical care experience in an Emergency Room, Critical Care, or Intensive Care Unit of an acute care hospital is required.
Proficiency in Clinical Applications is preferred at the time of hire; incumbents in this position will receive appropriate training, and skill proficiency will be required within 90 days from the date of hire.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Must demonstrate the competencies as outlined by the department and on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role involves potential exposure to the hazards and risks associated with the hospital environment, including bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, hazardous substances, and potential injury.
This position necessitates sitting, standing, walking, stooping, and crouching for a significant portion of the workday.
Physical demands include pushing and pulling equipment weighing up to 50 lbs and lifting patients up to 300 lbs with assistance.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to department leadership.
