About the Role:

As a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) at ACI Federal, you will play a crucial role in delivering empathetic care to elderly individuals across various healthcare environments, including long-term care facilities and rehabilitation centers. Under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs), you will be vital in promoting the physical and emotional health of our patients, enhancing their quality of life through dedicated support and companionship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist elderly patients with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and eating.
  • Facilitate patient mobility by safely transferring them in and out of beds, chairs, or wheelchairs.
  • Monitor vital signs and promptly communicate any changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
  • Document patient conditions and collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering meaningful relationships with patients and their families.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols, safety regulations, and facility policies to maintain a safe environment for both patients and staff.
  • Work with healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalized care plans that address patient needs.
  • Engage in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills in geriatric care and dementia management.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a state-approved geriatric nursing assistant training program is preferred.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) or relevant experience as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
  • Physical stamina and flexibility to perform tasks that require lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology, infection control practices, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, including the ability to work rotating weekends and holidays.

Position Requirements:

  • Active CNA License.
  • GNA certification required.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Immunization for defined illnesses and diseases.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk or run for extended periods.
  • Capacity to stand for long periods.
  • Flexibility to bend or twist the body and perform repetitive movements.
