Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Server to join our team at Crowne Plaza Lansing. As a Banquet Server, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our guests and ensuring that every event is a success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve food and beverages to guests in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to established hotel standards.
  • Set up events including place settings, décor, buffet lines, table linens, tables, and chairs, ensuring that every detail is perfect.
  • Complete all necessary training to ensure that you are knowledgeable about our hotel's policies and procedures.
  • Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption, taking steps to ensure that our guests are safe and satisfied.
  • Notify management of any incidents or concerns, ensuring that our guests receive the best possible service.
  • Clean and maintain your workspace, including the back hall, carts, storage closets, and event space, to ensure that our hotel is always clean and welcoming.
  • Engage with guests and colleagues, using our hotel's service standards to ensure that every interaction is positive and memorable.
  • Follow hotel safety protocols and procedures at all times, reporting any incidents or concerns to management.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, with a minimum of six months of prior food service experience.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the needs of our guests.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills, as well as the ability to navigate necessary software and applications.
  • Ability to comply with local laws regarding food handling and serving of alcohol, including the ability to take and pass the ServSafe Alcohol Safety class and exam.
  • Knowledge of table service standards and appropriate table settings and service ware, as well as knowledge of all menu items and methods of preparation.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift and transport items weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular and continuing basis, as well as maneuver carts or equipment weighing up to 250 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length, as well as maneuver between tables and in tight spaces.
  • Ability to position self to fulfill cleaning tasks, including standing for long periods of time and bending or stooping as needed.
