Job Summary:
As a Pharmacy Technician at SSM Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists in providing exceptional patient care. Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you will be responsible for assisting with various tasks, including reviewing prescription orders, locating medications, preparing and packaging prescriptions, and reconciling claims.
Responsibilities:
- Fills prescriptions by retrieving the correct medication from inventory and assists in dispensing prescriptions by pouring liquids, mixing suspensions, and counting prefabricated dosage units.
- Assists the pharmacist with entering prescription information into the electronic record and submits claims to insurance companies for payment.
- Maintains electronic records related to patient profiles, insurance, and new, transferred, or discontinued prescriptions.
- Bills insurance and/or customers for prescriptions and merchandise and resolves questions and/or insurance rejections through proper channels.
- Operates the cash register or point of sale (POS) system and performs end-of-day balances per established procedures.
- Follows all procedures for documenting and dispensing controlled substances and handles them in a manner that ensures accountability and security.
- Assures medications are available for patients by assisting in inventory control, including ordering, checking in orders, stocking shelves, updating the computerized inventory system, rotating stock, processing recalls, and conducting routine inspections of all areas where drugs are stored in the pharmacy.
- Provides customer service through greeting and acknowledging every customer, being knowledgeable of merchandise, and assisting customers within the pharmacy.
- Provides excellent customer service to patients, other staff, and ancillary departments and maintains high standards of confidentiality in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Requirements:
- High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
- No experience required.
- Pharmacy Technician, Registered - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) or Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Certified Pharmacy Technician (ExCPT/CPhT) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or State of Work Location: Missouri Pharmacy Technician - Missouri Division of Professional Registration or MO Registration Application and Finger Print Process Complete AT TIME OF HIRE - Missouri Division of Professional Registration and FUTURE - Pharmacy Technician, Registered within 6 months - Missouri Division of Professional Registration or State of Work Location: Oklahoma Technician - Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy or State of Work Location: Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician, Registered - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services or WI Registration Application Process Complete AT TIME OF HIRE - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services and FUTURE - Pharmacy Technician, Registered within 6 Months - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
