Mental Health Resource Center is seeking a skilled Crisis Assessment Specialist to join our team in the Emergency Services Department. As a Crisis Assessment Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing quality behavioral health care to individuals in psychiatric crisis.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct emergency mental health screenings on individuals who enter the facility, either voluntarily or through the Baker Act.
- Evaluate and assess crisis telephone calls and/or walk-ins to determine the need for services, using Baker Act criteria and DSM V standards.
- Provide Crisis Intervention and coordinate patient transfers to community hospitals.
- Coordinate with insurance companies to obtain pre-certifications and authorizations for treatment and services.
- Complete required documentation and reporting.
- A Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field.
- One year of experience working with the chronically mentally ill population.
- Ability to make sound decisions independently on a daily basis, including recognizing emergencies and life-threatening situations and responding appropriately.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact appropriately with internal and external customers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs, Outlook, and use of the Internet.
