Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech-Language Specialist to join our team at The Eden School. As a Speech-Language Specialist, you will play a critical role in assessing, developing, and implementing programs to support students with speech and language disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate students' speech and language needs, and develop individualized programs to address these needs.
  • Develop and implement program objectives for remediation of speech and language deficits, and evaluate student progress through data collection and assessment.
  • Implement behavior support and education programs as defined in each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Work collaboratively with Behavior Analysts, classroom Lead Teachers, and other professionals to develop and implement effective programs.
  • Manage maladaptive behaviors, including tantrums, self-injury, and aggression, and develop strategies to support students and families.
  • Maintain good working relationships with families, colleagues, and community members, and communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
  • Develop and maintain IEP goals and objectives, and communicate programming and progress updates during parent conferences and IEP meetings.
  • Attend and participate in program and department meetings, as well as student staffing meetings, as scheduled.
  • Attend mandatory in-service trainings, and assist with in-service trainings as required.
  • Maintain continuing education credits to maintain the Certificate of Clinical Competence and New Jersey licensure.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology required.
  • NJ DOE Speech Specialist Certification required.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with speech and language disorders, preferably with autism.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, exercise independent judgment, and make appropriate decisions based on established policies and procedures.
