Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret production schedules, customer orders, work orders, and shipping orders to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Sort and store perishable goods in refrigerated rooms.
  • Fulfill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distribute items to production workers or assembly lines.
  • Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves or convey orders to packing stations or shipping departments and prepare for shipping.
  • Mark materials with identifying information.
  • Open bales, crates, and other containers.
  • Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Weigh or count items for distribution within the plant to ensure conformance to company standards. Assist in the billing process.
  • Arrange stock parts in specified sequences for assembly by other workers by location.
  • Use a computer to enter records.
  • Compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
  • Drive a vehicle to transport stored items from the warehouse to the plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
