General Summary:
Under general supervision and in collaboration with the Governor's School for Science & Mathematics Accelerate Coordinator, this role provides students with a conducive learning atmosphere and assistance for an integrated virtual engineering curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:Support and promote the mission, vision, and strategic objectives of Lexington County School District One. Engage effectively with all stakeholders through communication and collaboration. Create a safe, encouraging, and productive environment for both working and learning. Maintain accurate attendance records as per board policy; report absences to designated personnel. Communicate rules and expected behavior to students; ensure order and control within the classroom at all times. Assign appropriate tasks to each student; address questions as needed; review completed work and submit it to Accelerate instructors. Handle all communications with the Accelerate coordinator and instructors. Assist in the promotion and recruitment of students for the Accelerate program. Participate in all required professional meetings and training sessions. Select, request, and manage an inventory of instructional materials, technology tools, equipment, and supplies necessary for daily activities; ensure safe storage and proper usage of all materials, tools, and equipment. Utilize personal technology devices and software applications effectively for managing relevant information and communication. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Education/Work Experience:A four-year degree with prior experience working with students; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Knowledge/Skills:
Familiarity with the policies, procedures, and activities of the school district relevant to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Understanding of school policies, procedures, and operations. Ability to demonstrate proper maintenance, safe operation, and effective use of equipment, materials, and supplies utilized in daily activities. Capability to maintain high standards of accuracy in performing duties. Ability to anticipate tasks and complete work independently without direct supervision. Capacity to uphold confidentiality regarding employee and student records and information. Ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, colleagues, students, and the public.
Working Conditions:
Duties are performed in a classroom environment with minimal exposure to adverse conditions. Responsibilities require continuous attention while working with students. Physical demands are limited to classroom activities that may involve occasional lifting or moving of items weighing up to twenty-five pounds. Local travel may be necessary; overnight travel is not required.
Responsibility:
Supervisory responsibilities for students in classroom settings and other instructional environments. No direct budgetary responsibilities.
Evaluation:
Performance in this role will be assessed annually in accordance with the School Board's policy on the evaluation of support staff personnel.
