$In accordance with the Teachers' Salary Scale according to education and experience.

Job Description:

This position involves providing direct services for children in integrated and pullout settings as determined by IEPs. The successful candidate will develop modifications to assist students in regular classrooms and participate as a member of the evaluation team when necessary. Responsibilities include evaluating children who have been referred, developing appropriate reports and IEPs, training classroom Educational Support Personnel, and coordinating and arranging team meetings as requested.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education license as a Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities – PK-8, with an SEI Endorsement required. Previous teaching or working experience with children with moderate special needs is preferred.

As an Education Specialist for Moderate Disabilities - Compass Program, you will work directly responsible to the Director of Special Education in all areas of Special Education and to the Principal in all matters pertaining to the building. You will consistently define high expectations for student work and perseverance, often provide exemplars, rubrics, and guided practice. The ability to use instructional practices that motivate and engage most students during lessons is essential. This role also requires working cooperatively with other personnel and parents, using strategies and practices that enable students to demonstrate respect for differences, and adapting instruction, materials, and assessments to make challenging material accessible to all students.
