Job Summary:
The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist will provide exceptional patient care while performing high-quality x-rays in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) setting.
This part-time position requires working weekdays between 6:00 am and 2:30 pm at our Crosstown Surgery Center in Edina.
No weekend or holiday work is required.
A $3,500 sign-on bonus will be offered, payable on the first paycheck with a 12-month commitment.
Internal applicants are not eligible for the sign-on bonus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and develop quality x-rays on designated portions of the body for physician use in diagnosing and treating illness or injury.
- Inform and prepare patients for procedures.
- Maintain Radiology files, including internal and external films.
- Prepare, clean, and stock work areas with supplies.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair.
- Maintain necessary precautions for excessive exposure to radiation.
- May supply patients with x-rays, as requested by surgeons.
- Prioritize and provide care based on individualized plans of care, flexible with staffing needs and assigned duties of the surgery center.
- Provide care and supplies based on identified needs and in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.
- Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of special needs for various age groups, including children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, when providing perioperative experience and for multispecialty procedures.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to maximize patient outcomes and ensure a smooth flow of the surgical experience.
- Apply principles of aseptic technique, standard, and transmission precautions.
- Perform activities in a timely manner to avoid delays within the department. Seek assistance with assignments as needed.
- Follow proper channels of communication and inform department managers of unit activity, patient condition, and personnel concerns.
- Accountable for reporting occurrences through the center's established reporting process related to employee and/or patient/visitor events.
- Foster the developmental and educational process of self, colleagues, orientees, and students (includes functioning as a preceptor).
- Participate in acceptable continuing education, fostering career and skill development, including meeting departmental continuing education requirements.
- Assist in managing controllable costs by the proper, non-wasteful use of Surgery Center resources.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an ARRT-approved Radiologic Technology Program.
- ARRT Certification in radiology required.
- Previous radiology experience preferred.
- Current BLS certification or completed upon hire.
Environmental Conditions:
Clinic/office/surgery center setting.
