Job Title: Clinical Instructor – Adolescent and Young Adult Lead Clinician

We are seeking a licensed clinician to serve in a leadership role in the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The AYA program provides developmentally-appropriate psychosocial and medical care for AYA cancer patients and their support communities, advances research in the field of AYA oncology, educates providers about the unique needs of young people living with cancer, and improves care for AYAs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet with patients and develop a supportive care plan designed specifically for that patient in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Develop an extensive knowledge of supportive care resources for AYA patients offered within and outside of UNC.
  • Consult and collaborate with oncologists, nurses, mental health clinicians, and other cancer-related clinicians and staff members.
  • Care for patients in the AYA cancer survivorship clinic, staff and supervise cases with the AYA clinical consult team, carry a small caseload of weekly or bi-weekly AYA cancer patients seen for therapy, cover for clinical team when they are out of the office or the clinical service is busy, and triage newly diagnosed AYA patients to decide most appropriate system of care.
Requirements:
  • Applicants must be a licensed clinician in the state of NC (ex: nursing, social work, psychology, counseling, physician, or related field).
  • Must be able to work with various populations effectively and professionally.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to think critically and creatively, to help plan the work of others, and to work collaboratively across diverse partners and stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in a leadership and supervisory role.
  • 5+ years of post-Master's level experience.
