Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee and manage the Makerspace facility
  • Provide both technical and administrative support
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards
  • Facilitate training sessions for equipment usage
  • Coordinate maintenance of equipment
  • Serve as a liaison among different departments
  • Assist in the planning and execution of events and meetings
  • Maintain inventory and manage supplies
  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary

Scope & Impact: This role is crucial for the seamless operation of the Makerspace, potentially influencing various areas within the department.

Communication & Interaction: This position necessitates interaction with a variety of stakeholders to deliver services, clarify concepts, and effectively resolve issues.

Effective Knowledge: The ideal candidate should exhibit proficiency in the field and be capable of independently managing daily operations.

Problem Solving & Judgement: This role requires the ability to analyze and address operational challenges, adapt policies to specific situations, and seek guidance from supervisors when necessary.

Budget Authority: The candidate may contribute insights into budget formulation based on operational requirements.

Policy & Procedure Authority: Responsible for implementing organizational policies and determining the appropriate procedures to follow.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports to a manager or higher, receiving guidance from senior staff members as required.

Supervisory & Team Leadership Responsibilities: May provide mentorship to junior staff members within the department.

Qualifications Required:

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field along with several years of pertinent work experience. A solid understanding of fundamental theories, principles, and concepts is vital for success in this position.

Qualifications Preferred:

A Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or a related discipline. Experience in laboratory safety, equipment maintenance, and operational management is beneficial.
