Job Description

Federal Staff Accountant (partially remote) is responsible for assisting the Lead Senior Accountant, the Vice President of Finance, and the Childcare Directors in executing all accounting functions.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Support the completion of accounting tasks by monthly deadlines for data entry, transaction analysis, and reconciliation.
  • Support the Lead Senior Accountant in overseeing all financial activities of the Childcare Development Centers as needed.
  • Coordinate with center contacts for receiving A/P invoices that need to be processed and copies of cash receipts that have been deposited into the bank.
  • Review and process Credit Card expenses and receipts following ASYMCA accounting and corporate card use policies and procedures.
  • Review Fixed Assets for assigned locations; ensure any new assets added are set up properly for depreciating; run monthly depreciation.
  • Accrue for any applicable revenue earned or expenses incurred by location.
  • Performs general accounts analysis and bank reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Assist with the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
  • Assist with schedules and support needed for annual audit and Form 990 tax filing.
  • Serve as a key technical accounting resource for the childcare development centers.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Follow systems and controls to verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data.
