Purpose and Scope

The teaching faculty at Lone Star College are responsible for providing a high-quality learning experience for students. As an adjunct faculty member, you will play a critical role in achieving this goal by teaching Welding Inspection Technology courses at various times and locations.

Essential Job Functions
  • Teach Welding Inspection Technology courses, creating engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
  • Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
  • Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
  • Meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
  • Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary, with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Work Schedule and Conditions
  • Equipment used includes a PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment, and any specialized equipment standard within the discipline/industry.
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position.
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab environment with exposure to safety hazards typical within the industry.
  • Hours will vary depending on class time, with instructors required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in metals science (metallurgy, composite science, etc.), or welding technology, agriculture mechanics, industrial education, industrial arts, or industrial technology, and 3 years related work experience in the field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASNT Level II or III certification in one or more of the following nondestructive testing methods: UT, PAUT, RT, MT, PT, ET, and/or an AWS CWI. ISO 9712 or other Inspection certifications will be considered.
