About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Per Diem Staff Pharmacist to contribute to our pharmacy team at UNC Health Appalachian. The ideal candidate will be responsible for dispensing medications accurately, providing clinical support to healthcare professionals, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Dispensing: Accurately dispense medications in accordance with prescription orders, ensuring patient safety and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Clinical Support: Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide clinical support, including drug information, therapeutic interventions, and monitoring for adverse drug reactions.
  • Order Verification: Review and verify medication orders to ensure accuracy, appropriateness, and adherence to formulary guidelines.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular quality assurance activities to maintain high standards of pharmacy services and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Patient Education: Counsel patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and answer any related inquiries to ensure proper understanding and adherence.
  • Emergency Response: Actively participate in emergency response procedures, providing timely and accurate medication support during critical situations.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage pharmacy inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels and minimizing waste.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and ensure a multidisciplinary approach to care.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, prescription files, and other necessary documentation.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay informed about new medications, treatment protocols, and industry developments through ongoing education and training.
Requirements
  • PharmD degree from an accredited pharmacy program.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting is preferred.
  • Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of North Carolina.
What We Offer

Compensation is commensurate upon education and experience. Hiring compensation ranges from $47.50 to $68.00/hr. Eligible for shift and PRN differential.
