Job Summary:

The Federal Work Study Athletic Training Assistant at Wheeling University supports the Athletic Training staff in providing healthcare services to student-athletes. This position offers hands-on experience in sports medicine and athletic training while contributing to the overall health and safety of our athletes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist certified athletic trainers in the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
  • Attend and assist in practices, games, and events to provide immediate medical care to student-athletes under the supervision of the athletic training staff.
  • Aid in the maintenance and organization of athletic training facilities, equipment, and supplies.
  • Help with administrative tasks such as documenting injuries, treatment plans, and athlete medical histories.
  • Educate student-athletes on injury prevention techniques and rehabilitation exercises.
  • Adhere to NCAA, conference, and university policies and procedures regarding student-athlete healthcare.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a current Wheeling University student eligible for Federal Work Study funding.
