Optician Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Optician to join our team at Visionworks. As an Optician, you will play a vital role in assisting customers with frame selection, fitting, and dispensing eyewear. You will utilize your technical knowledge to interpret prescriptions and provide accurate product information to customers.

• Assist customers with frame selection and fitting, ensuring a personalized and exceptional experience.
• Interpret prescriptions and provide accurate product information to customers, including lens selections and other services.
• Ensure compliance with social distancing, cleaning protocols, and hygiene practices to maintain a safe and healthy environment for customers and colleagues.
• Utilize the SERVE sales process to identify customer needs and establish proper lens recommendations.
• Analyze and interpret patients' prescriptions, communicating with the Lab and Optometrist as necessary to ensure accuracy.
• Sell, fit, and dispense frames and other accessories, maintaining a clean and orderly dispensing area.
• Responsible for the accuracy of customer pricing for retail customers.
• Maintain license requirements per State Guidelines.
• Provide feedback and guidance to Apprentice Opticians, as needed.
• Adhere to privacy and confidential company policies and procedures, including HIPAA.
• Participate in training and educational activities to maintain professional affiliations and organizational requirements.
• Maintain the cleanliness of all equipment, workstations, and the facility on a daily basis.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Current Massachusetts State Ophthalmic dispensing license.
• Knowledge and demonstrated abilities in explaining optical products, services, and interpreting optical prescriptions.

This position provides competitive pay and benefits, with a minimum pay rate of $25 per hour plus incentive. Starting pay may vary based on experience, up to a maximum of $37.50 per hour. Incentive pay, wage upgrades, and overtime opportunities are also available.
