Position Overview

Role: Bartender

Department: Food & Beverage

Supervisor: Food & Beverage Director

Objective: Deliver exceptional service to our patrons across all Food and Beverage sectors, emphasizing bartending within the dining establishment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome, guide, seat, and take orders from food and beverage patrons.
  • Serve guests in alignment with company standards.
  • Provide warmth and hospitality akin to welcoming guests into your own home.
  • Maintain a consistent liquor inventory and communicate needs to the relevant manager.
  • Participate in the creation of, and be knowledgeable about, all wine and beer selections.
  • Contribute to the development of, and be knowledgeable about, specialty cocktail offerings.
  • Make pairing recommendations.
  • Open and serve bottled wine according to service standards.
  • Pour wine, beer, and mixed drinks following established guidelines.
  • Implement safe serving practices, including cutting off customers, suggesting food items, and ensuring responsible drinking.
  • Obtain necessary certification for state liquor regulations.
  • Set up temporary or banquet bars efficiently.
  • Prepare garnishes and mix ingredients prior to shifts.
  • Adhere to all pouring standards and recipes.
  • Operate effectively during peak service times and high-pressure situations.
  • Check in with guests throughout their meal to ensure satisfaction with food, service, and atmosphere.
  • Be well-versed in menu items and related materials.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all work areas and equipment.
  • Complete assigned side work thoroughly and efficiently.
  • Utilize suggestive selling techniques to enhance check averages.
  • Assist in resolving guest complaints and communicate issues to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Perform any reasonable tasks as requested by supervisors.
  • Foster positive relationships with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
  • Prepare and present bills to customers using the point of sale system (POS).
  • Process payments from customers, including cash, credit, or room charges, and settle bills using the POS system.
  • Ensure guest safety and accurate billing when processing room charges.
  • Complete all opening, side-work, and closing checklists and duties related to the shift.
  • Reconcile cash, accurately charge credit cards, and make appropriate cash deposits at the end of the shift.
  • Check out with the manager upon shift completion.
  • Actively participate in company promotions as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in all dining areas and storage spaces.
  • Engage in daily staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Communicate daily specials and specialty menus to guests.
  • Deliver food in accordance with the expected timing of courses.
  • Assist in training new staff and support colleagues as needed.
  • Promote a positive teamwork environment by assisting team members.
  • Be aware of food allergies and communicate effectively with guests regarding their needs.
  • Address each guest using the S.E.A.C. method: Smile, Eye contact, Acknowledge, and Close with kindness.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
  • Understand and adhere to all safety and security protocols, including emergency procedures and reporting policies.
  • Comply with all time and attendance policies.
  • Follow all uniform, dress code, and appearance standards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to walk for a significant portion of the shift.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to navigate stairs regularly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to bend frequently during the shift.
  • Ability to carry service trays weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform repetitive manual tasks.
  • Ability to respond quickly to guest needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English.

Work Environment:

  • Hotel property with approximately 32 guest rooms.
  • Work primarily in a restaurant and kitchen setting.
  • Engage in both group and individual tasks.
  • Observe and practice all safety protocols.
  • Work in various areas of the hotel, including exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Work outdoors with exposure to weather conditions.
  • Handle various hazardous materials safely.
