Position Overview:
The primary objective of this role is to oversee all facets of freight car repair and upkeep. The individual must possess the ability to interpret blueprints, execute repairs in accordance with regulatory standards, and maintain accurate repair documentation. Adherence to company protocols and safety regulations is imperative while performing job responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze job work orders to execute necessary repairs, ensuring a thorough, precise, and timely service to our clients.
- Manage and finalize repairs efficiently within designated timeframes.
- Inform supervisors of any materials or equipment needed to complete assigned tasks.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors in a cooperative work environment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, maintain a tidy workspace, and comply with all Environmental Health and Safety Policies.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards set by AAR, GRS, and our clients.
- Perform additional duties as required, including special projects.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in reading and writing English at a high school level.
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, and safely navigate around heavy machinery and railcars.
- Demonstrate fundamental mechanical skills.
- Capability to independently organize work tasks to meet expectations effectively.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with a keen attention to detail.
- Comprehend and follow both verbal and written instructions, including basic blueprints and schematics.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and proficiency in using a tape measure.
- Willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel-toed boots, eye protection, earplugs, gloves, and fall protection gear.
