Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and physically fit Street Maintenance Worker to join our team at the City Of Jonesboro. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for ensuring the city's streets and right-of-ways are safe and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and transport leftover and broken asphalt to the landfill.
  • Operate a concrete saw to cut asphalt for repairs.
  • Shovel asphalt behind a roller to ensure a smooth surface.
  • Patch potholes to prevent further damage.
  • Mow and weed-eat right-of-way areas to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Clean right-of-way areas with chain saws and hand tools, and pick up litter and debris after storms and special events.
  • Assist with right-of-way and drainage system maintenance, and perform masonry duties as needed.
  • Place signs to reroute traffic around work sites, and flag traffic to ensure safety.
  • Drive city vehicles as required.
Requirements
  • Valid driver's license.
  • No experience is necessary, but a good work history is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow policies, safety rules, and instructions.
  • A successful drug screen and background check.
