About the JobThe Palliative Medicine Division at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center seeks a Board-Certified Palliative Medicine Physician to join our interdisciplinary team. As a Palliative Care Physician, you will provide compassionate, high-quality care to adult patients with serious illnesses, collaborating with a robust team of healthcare professionals to address their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Provide inpatient consultation and ambulatory care to patients with advanced illnesses;
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans;
- Participate in clinical teaching and education for trainees, staff, and faculty;
- Pursue careers in medical education, quality improvement, patient advocacy, and clinical research with collaborations across the Wexner Medical Center and The Ohio State University.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree;
- Board Certification in one of the ten general specialties leading to Hospice and Palliative Medicine Certification;
- Ohio Medical License or eligibility to obtain licensure;
- DEA License;
- Highly skilled in Palliative Medicine symptom management techniques and serious illness communication skills;
- Experience and/or interest in the clinical practice of palliative care for high acuity patients in a quaternary referral academic medical center;
- Experience and/or interest in palliative care education for trainees, staff, and faculty;
- Experience and/or interest in palliative care research is highly desirable;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and patients.
