Position Overview:

The role of a Classroom Assistant in a Pre-K setting involves providing essential support to educators and fostering a nurturing environment for young learners.

Educational Requirements:

A standard high school diploma or successful completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program is required.

Key Requirements:

Ability to effectively engage and communicate with children is crucial. Bilingual abilities are preferred, and proficiency in computer skills is necessary as per the demands of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with children is highly regarded. Bilingual skills are a plus.

Core Responsibilities:

1. In the event of assignment to an Exceptional Student Education (ESE) classroom, responsibilities may include assisting with daily living activities, which could involve:

a. Support with personal hygiene and restroom needs, which may encompass diapering or catheterization.

b. Providing mobility assistance, including lifting, positioning, or transferring students.

c. Aiding in activities related to seizure management.

d. Assisting with feeding requirements, which may involve suctioning.

e. Supporting the use of adaptive equipment.

f. Offering behavioral support, which may include employing positive crisis management (PCM) techniques.

Compensation:

Hourly Rate: $15.00 – $18.82 per hour

Calendar: 188B

Pay Grade: 11

Note: New hires will be compensated at the minimum of the designated hourly range.
