Job Summary

As a Lead Substation Engineer at OGE Energy, you will play a critical role in the design and construction of new facilities or the operation and maintenance of existing facilities. You will be responsible for developing plans and specifications, performing analysis, and providing reports on assigned tasks. Your technical expertise will be essential in resolving equipment and operational problems, including performing field investigations or inspections, design work, and detailed checking of design computations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and update engineering standards, policies, and guidelines to ensure compliance.
  • Communicate with regulatory bodies and government agencies as needed.
  • Act as a resource for junior engineers, directing technical complexities of work.
  • Plan, prioritize, conduct, and lead assignments, serving as a project or case manager.
  • Meet with the public, developers, landowners, and interest groups regarding zoning, subdivision projects, building projects, and engineering regulations.
  • Provide technical presentations to elected officials, appointed boards/commissions, the public, and staff.
  • Lead lower-level engineers in project completion and manage budgets, schedules, and resources for small to medium-sized projects.
  • Review and critique proposed changes to engineering standards, policies, and guidelines.
  • Conduct surveys to gather field data and prepare and interpret schematics, drawings, layouts, and other visual aids.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 6 years of related engineering experience, including at least 4 years as an Engineer and a maximum of 2 years of related experience that may include non-Engineer experience such as Engineering Internship, Design, Drafting, and Engineering Tech experience.

Working Conditions

This role may require travel, non-standard work schedules, and exposure to extreme conditions and inclement weather. You may be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground, and in confined spaces.
