Position Overview
This role is designed to ensure that retailers recognize the significance of the tobacco category within their business framework, how it enhances sales across other categories, and the potential opportunities that tobacco presents.

Key Responsibilities

Route Planning & Execution

  • Engage actively in establishing territory objectives aligned with market priorities.
  • Determine optimal locations for executing various activities within outlets.
  • Facilitate effective communication channels with customers to allocate dedicated time for business discussions.
  • Utilize 'JTI customer prioritization' to establish visit frequency and integrate proactive strategies for increased customer engagement.
  • Plan visits based on sales analytics and a comprehensive understanding of customer requirements.
Strategic Insights & Business Consultation
  • Evaluate factual data from the territory to support local insights and identify future planning opportunities.
  • Assess JTI objectives performance to inform future strategies.
  • Gather and analyze total category sales data and competitor performance to uncover opportunities for JTI.
  • Monitor competitor, retailer, and category activities in stores effectively.
  • Collect pricing data for the Tobacco Category.
  • Provide regular updates to prioritized customers regarding total tobacco performance and present growth opportunities for mutual benefit.
  • Utilize business intelligence to strengthen sales propositions.
  • Collaborate with outlets to enhance the potential for tobacco consumers throughout the store.
  • Educate and influence retailers on optimal tobacco category management.
Negotiation & Sales Process
  • Independently negotiate contracts that benefit JTI within the designated territory.
  • Autonomously adjust payments to outlets based on contract adherence, using data to inform performance against agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual standards.
  • Verify that recommended pricing for JTI products is accurate.
  • Proactively leverage category-based arguments to advance both retailer and JTI interests while satisfying tobacco consumers.
  • Anticipate, plan, and address objections to foster understanding and facilitate successful closures.
  • Ensure that the appropriate tobacco assortment is available.
Logistics Management
  • Merchandise stock as necessary and utilize business tools to highlight the impact of availability issues on business.
  • Train store personnel on proper stock ordering procedures.
  • Influence the ordering process for JTI products.
Performance Evaluation
  • Assess achievement of objectives and provide feedback for potential enhancements.
  • Document results against objectives in relevant systems.
Candidate Profile - Requirements
  • Experience in FMCG sales, preferably within the Tobacco sector.
  • Proficient in computer applications (Office suite).
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Exceptional negotiation capabilities.
  • Advanced communication skills.
  • Proficient selling techniques (Triple win approach).
  • In-depth category management expertise.
  • Strong analytical skills (territory data analysis).
