Job Summary

The Painter Helper is a crucial member of our team at Marin Collision Center, responsible for assisting in the refinishing of damaged body parts and vehicles in accordance with manufacturer and dealership quality specifications and time standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle inspections, mark areas for dent repair, body work, refinishing, buffing, waxing, and painting
  • Remove rust from metal, and grease and dirt from work surfaces prior to painting
  • Masks and protects parts that are not to be painted or coated
  • Fills cavities and dents with appropriate filler material to attain smooth surfaces
  • Mixes paint according to manufacturer's specifications
  • Selects and mixes coating liquids to produce desired colors
  • Paints surfaces using sprayers or brushes as appropriate to achieve quality repairs
  • Inspects painted units for quality of workmanship, noting any runs, sags, and unpainted areas and corrects
  • Heats and sprays wax or other appropriate coatings onto vehicles and products after they are tested
  • Operates all required equipment to perform necessary repairs in a safe manner and in accordance with company policies and applicable local, state, and federal regulations
  • Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirators, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer and in accordance with company policies
  • Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management immediately
  • Communicates with service advisors and/or dispatchers if additional work is needed
  • Ensures that customer vehicles are kept clean during the repair process
  • Examines assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended and communicates this information as needed to appropriate body shop or service personnel
  • Verifies that repairs and painting are complete and to quality standards prior to submitting for final approval
  • Contains costs by using warranty or insurance as needed; evaluating service and parts options for repairs
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt of parts, paints, and supplies
  • Maintains a clean, efficient work area and assists in keeping the shop neat and organized
  • Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order in accordance with operating procedures
  • Understands the terminology of the automobile business and keeps abreast of technology changes
  • Follows all attendance and punctuality standards with adherence to timekeeping standards; Employees are required to record the beginning and ending times of any shift, break, or departure from work for personal reasons
  • Follows the Company Code of Business Ethics and Conduct
  • Understands and follows all work rules and procedures and follows lawful directions from Supervisors
  • Upholds the company's non-disclosure and confidentiality policies and agreements
  • Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with company policy
  • Attends pertinent training on request
  • Attends company meetings as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Pay for this position is $18-$22/hour.
