Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Recreational Therapist to join our team at WestCare Foundation. As a Recreational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing programming and services to clients participating in our treatment programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement recreational therapy programs to address the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social needs of clients.
  • Provide one-to-one and group treatments, as well as co-treatments with other disciplines, to promote client progress and well-being.
  • Conduct assessments, interviews, and chart reviews to identify client needs and develop effective treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients.
  • Attend meetings and participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices and research.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field.
  • Accredited as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or eligible to take the exam.
  • One year of experience in a psychiatric, behavioral health, or correctional setting, administering therapeutic groups and leading participation-oriented activities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to pass background checks, obtain OIG LEIE clearance, and maintain CPR certification.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in an institutional setting, with occasional exposure to physically and emotionally challenging situations. The employee must be able to perform the following essential duties and activities with or without accommodation:

  • Requires mobility and physical activity, including standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires talking, hearing, and seeing to complete paperwork and observe client behavior.
  • Requires the ability to work under stress and in emotionally charged settings.
