Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Lactation Consultant to join our team at United Surgical Partners International Inc (USPI). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert breastfeeding support and guidance to new mothers and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate breastfeeding support plans to help mothers achieve their individual goals.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement evidence-based feeding plans for normal newborns, preterm infants, and complex feeding conditions.
  • Develop and maintain breastfeeding rentals and product sales programs.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of hospital policies, care plans, and patient literature related to breastfeeding.
  • Develop and revise charting systems for documentation, teaching, and progress notes.
  • Assist with the development of future lactation department services, including telephone support and outpatient clinics.
  • Maintain statistics to assess the effectiveness of IBCLC services.
Requirements
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification or included in education plan.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Women's Services.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Lactation Services.
  • NRP certification.
  • BLS certification.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable Joint Commission rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Ability to make independent sound nursing decisions.
  • Demonstrates competence in customer/patient focus and adaptability.
