Unit Overview
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Atrium Health University City is an eight-bed unit with a 2:1 RN ratio. We care for patients with medical, surgical, and neurological conditions. Our unit features 24-hour virtual care ICU coverage, allowing us to care for more critical patients. Our team includes intensivists during the day and virtual care intensivists in the evenings and nights.

Atrium Health University City provides healthcare services in the University City, Mint Hill, North Mecklenburg, and Southwest Cabarrus regions in North Carolina. Our award-winning maternity center provides personalized support and education throughout pregnancy, delivery, and recovery. Our Emergency Department has over 65,000 patient visits every year. We also offer specialties in cancer care, diabetes care, heart care, neuroscience, rehabilitation, and more.
Responsibilities
- Provides professional nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Assists in maintaining a safe work environment and performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner.
- Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the age, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patients served.
Requirements
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred. BLS required per policy guidelines. Current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state in which you work and reside or; if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as your primary state of residency, meet the licensure requirements in your home state; or for Non-National License Compact states, current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner required in the state where the RN works.
