Clinical Nurse Specialist

The Clinical Nurse Specialist - Hospitalist Team will assist physicians with hospital-based consults and admissions. This role will function within the scope of practice, ensuring seamless communication between the emergency department and hospitalist physicians. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of an Associate degree in Nursing, with a BSN preferred. A minimum of 3 years of experience in the area of clinical expertise is required, with proficiency in chart review for appropriate utilization of resources and quality of care issues.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as a point of contact for the emergency department for admissions and consultations
• Track and distribute admission and consultations evenly to the hospitalist physicians
• Assist physicians with patient consults and admissions by obtaining information from the patient and/or patient records
• Record progress of patient on progress notes, countersigned by the physician
• May assist with rounds, procedures, or examinations if requested and within the scope of practice
• Perform specified patient care with a high degree of skill, minimal discomfort to the patient, and minimal supervision
Requirements:
• Minimum of an Associate degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred
• BLS certification must be obtained within the orientation period, and certification must be kept current while in this position
• 3 years of experience in the area of clinical expertise preferred
