About the Role

Cook Children's Health Care System is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team in Fort Worth, Texas.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing clinical laboratory testing, utilizing education, experience, and analytical judgment to ensure accurate and reliable results. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform clinical laboratory testing, including blood banking, chemistry, hematology, immunohematology, and microbiology
  • Ensure test systems are functioning properly and within expected parameters before reporting patient test results
  • Work independently to resolve technical problems within scope of authority, making decisions to notify and seek advice of next level of management when indicated
  • Staff hours, rotate temporary on-call, as appropriate, and perform other duties as assigned to meet Laboratory, CCMC, and CCHCS goals
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology/clinical or medical laboratory science or an appropriate biological, chemical, or physical science and completion of a NAACLS program
  • Minimum 6 months experience performing laboratory testing in a clinical setting
  • CLIA-classified as waived, moderate complexity, or high complexity
  • Pediatric experience is preferred
Certification/Licensure
  • Candidate must be certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent nationally recognized certifying agency
  • Registry eligible candidates must pass the certifying exam within one year of graduation; failure to do so results in termination
  • Registry eligible candidates who have not yet received certification may perform waived or moderate complexity testing only
