Job Summary

As a Yard Jockey/CDL A Driver, you will be responsible for loading and moving materials within the yard for a mulch and soil manufacturer. This is a high-activity role that requires availability to work overtime hours as needed in a fast-paced operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Select and stage trailers for loading and transport, ensuring accurate and efficient material handling.
  • Perform routine pre- and post-trip inspections on vehicles and trailers to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Properly secure and strap heavy loads for travel, demonstrating proficiency in Forklift Certification Training.
  • Successfully complete Decision Driving Safety course, including written test and observed road test.
  • Check all load-related documentation (logs and records) for completeness and accuracy.
  • Physically fit to climb and perform tasks, with ability to distinguish proper inventory via SKUs and labeling.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, Scale House, and shipping departments.
  • Able to work independently, with great attention to detail and ability to cross-train in Machine/Forklift/Heavy Equipment Operating positions.
  • Willingness to adhere to all Company Safety Policies, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment when required.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3-5 years of truck driving experience.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 65 lbs. from the ground level.
  • Capability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and whole body, including bending, crouching, climbing, and using steps and ladders.
