Position Overview

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) delivers direct rehabilitation services in physical therapy to patients referred by physicians, under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT), in compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.

Qualifications and Licensure Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program (ASPT)
  • Currently registered/licensed in the applicable State, maintaining an active license in good standing throughout employment
  • Preferred: One (1) year of experience in post-acute care or a related environment
  • CPR certification required upon hire or to be obtained during orientation; must remain current throughout employment
Specific Job Responsibilities
  • Engage in community health initiatives/projects as appropriate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and support departments to effectively address patient needs
  • Exhibit proper body mechanics consistently
  • Make independent decisions when necessary
  • Knowledgeable of practices, procedures, and regulations governing operations in the post-acute care setting
  • Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all competency areas, including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
  • Maintain professional relationships with all colleagues, vendors, etc.
  • Safeguard confidentiality of all proprietary and/or sensitive information
  • Understand and adhere to company policies, including harassment and compliance protocols
  • Exhibit integrity and professionalism by following Life Care's Code of Conduct and completing mandatory compliance training
Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to physical therapy treatment plans for patients under the direction of the supervising PT
  • Document appropriately and in a timely manner
  • Utilize therapy software accurately and effectively
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive attitude towards patients
  • Assist in the safe evacuation of patients
  • Demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance
  • Utilize reasoning skills and sound judgment in decision-making
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently during working hours
  • Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
