At Voyatek, we're seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer to join our NYS Information Technology Services Team in Albany, NY. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of tax-related applications using J2EE technologies.

In this exciting opportunity, you will be responsible for obtaining business requirements, developing automated applications, and providing support for maintenance activities. You will work closely with our customers to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet their priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Obtain business requirements to develop automated applications that meet business priorities.
  • Provide programming duties for tax-related applications.
  • Develop and mentor staff using various technologies including J2EE, Spring, JSON, JavaScript, and JDBC.
  • Develop and review detailed documentation for system and program change requirements, including detail specifications documents.
  • Assist and provide guidance through all phases of the project management life cycle.
  • Develop unit test plans based on coding changes and user specifications. Conduct unit testing and debugging of all code changes in the development environment.
  • Coordinate the migration of all code changes (programs, procedures, etc.) from the development environment into the user test environment.
  • Assist team members using distributed technologies including Java, DB2, XML, and XQuery. Ensure that staff members are properly trained and mentored.
  • Provide support, as needed, for defects and issue resolution. Ensure that defects and issues are addressed promptly based on priority.
  • Facilitate and participate in meetings with ITS and DTF customers.
  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, with DTF management and users, ITS management, and team members.
Experience Required:

The selected candidate should have at least 60 months of experience with J2EE technologies, including JDBC, JSP, and XML. Additionally, they should have experience developing, building, and testing Java EE applications using modern IDEs such as Eclipse, Netbeans, or IntelliJ.

The ideal candidate should also have experience using J2EE frameworks such as Spring or Struts and Application Servers such as Tomcat, JBoss, Websphere, or Weblogic. Furthermore, they should have experience writing SQL statements for relational databases and designing multi-tiered transactional systems.

Salary range: $46.00-$56.00 hourly.
