Design Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team at PEAK Technical Staffing. As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing new and existing machines, as well as providing technical guidance to others.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design or redesign component assemblies and parts of new and existing machines
  • Service as Design Project Leader and Cross Functional Team Leader when assigned
  • Provide status reports as needed
  • Generate cost-effective designs
  • Establish project time estimates
  • Write project appropriations
  • Write test plans
  • Plan and supervise test of new and redesigned products
  • Perform a full range of theoretical calculations and select the most appropriate materials
  • Be aware of and keep up to date on applicable crane codes and standards (SAE, ISO, PCSA, etc.)
  • Be aware of machine field service problems and take corrective action
  • Direct and check the work of others on specific projects or sub-projects (drawings, calculations, bill of materials, etc.)
  • Provide technical guidance to others inside and outside the department
  • Ensure organization and maintenance of machine calculations
Requirements:
  • Four-year college degree
  • BS in an engineering discipline (preferably mechanical)
  • Minimum of four years of proven design experience in the crane industry or seven years in the heavy equipment industry
