Job Overview

Malace HR is seeking a skilled Journeyman Pipefitter to work onsite at an automotive manufacturer in Kansas City, KS. This position comes with fully paid health insurance. Qualified candidates will possess the following skills and abilities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the operation, repair, and installation of new piping and valves related to building steam and water piping/plumbing systems, determining the frequency of repair and/or maintenance of systems.
  • Understand the engineering design and operational aspects of the building and critical support systems and components, recognizing system shortcomings, troubleshooting, and responding to operational and emergency situations.
  • Monitor the operation and maintain heating and cooling valves, water cooling equipment, boilers under a certain pressure not maintained by Boiler Operators, heating, and hot water equipment, pumps, valves, piping, and filters.
  • Review logs to ensure proper operation of equipment and report any problems/malfunctions on an as-needed basis.
  • Check malfunctioning equipment and determine corrective action required to restore it to a satisfactory operating condition.
  • Communicate with work order requestors and coordinate with client representatives to understand their needs and ensure work scheduled considers operational windows for repair.
  • Prioritize all maintenance, corrective, and emergent work orders for the site (annual, monthly, weekly, and daily), scheduling and assigning work to individuals with the assistance of the work order clerk and scheduler/planner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment and comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties assigned.

Requirements
  • Ability to operate and use a broad spectrum of tools and equipment skillfully and safely perform heavy physical labor, read and comprehend plans and blueprints.
  • Some knowledge of standard practices and procedures of construction trades such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical systems, including materials and tools, applicable code requirements, methods, and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment, safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment.
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Journeyman License Required.
  • Valid state driver's license in good standing.
  • 2 years minimum trade experience (trade license preferred).
