Job Title: Librarian Assistant

About the Job:
The City of Pasadena seeks a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Librarian Assistant. This position plays a vital part in providing exceptional library services to the community, ensuring that patrons have access to information and resources that meet their needs.

Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for assisting customers at the children's and teen reference desks, answering questions in person, online, and by telephone. Additionally, the Librarian Assistant will provide reader's advisory to library customers, assist with the use of online catalogs, databases, and computers, and promote Youth Services collections through designing and constructing displays, signage, and bookmarks. The ideal candidate will also be able to present and/or assist with children's programming and outreach services, as well as assist with collection development, weeding projects, and other collection maintenance projects. Furthermore, this role involves maintaining public service areas and library equipment/facilities.

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, applicants should possess a High School diploma or GED. An Associate's Degree or some college education is preferred, along with experience working in a library or similar setting. Strong customer service skills are essential, and bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is desirable. American Red Cross First Aid training is also a plus.
