About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Autonomous Vehicle Operator to join our team at Nuro. As an Autonomous Vehicle Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating our autonomous test vehicles, collaborating with our software and hardware engineers, and advancing our technologies and internal workflows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate autonomous vehicles and robots up to 8 hours a day
  • Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to advance technologies and internal workflows
  • Utilize proprietary software to collect data and troubleshoot in real-world situations
  • Interact with members of the public to educate them on autonomous vehicle technologies and behaviors
Requirements
  • Current valid CA driver's license with 3+ years of US license possession
  • Clean driving record and passing a criminal background check
  • Responsibility, reliability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently or in small groups with minimal supervision
  • Advanced communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Self-driven and experience working in a start-up or dynamic environment
  • Collaborative and team-oriented
  • Ability to work PM shift (2:00-10:30pm Pacific Time) Monday through Friday, and occasionally weekends as needed
  • Physical ability to perform duties including bending, squatting, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds
Working Conditions and Essential Functions
  • Sitting for up to 8 hours per day in an enclosed vehicle
  • Bending, squatting, stretching, and lifting up to 25 pounds on a regular basis
  • Side and up/down movement of the head, neck, back, and shoulders necessary to operate a vehicle safely
  • Ability to work in a vehicle that may brake, swerve, slow, or stop abruptly
  • Holding and grasping with hands and frequent use of foot/feet to operate foot pedals when driving the vehicle
Compensation

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base hourly rate is $24 per hour. Any future increases in pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, education, location, and skills. You may also be entitled to a yearly bonus based on individual and company performance.
