The Department of Medicine at University Hospitals is in search of a Chief Midwife and clinician for our St. John Medical Center. This facility welcomes around 800 newborns annually in a level II community environment.

We are thrilled about the enhancements at the St. John Medical Center, which is currently undergoing significant renovations and will feature a level II NICU. Our commitment is to serve a substantial number of under-represented minority women in the surrounding counties, aiming to deliver exceptional personalized care while addressing the maternal and infant health disparities rooted in systemic inequities.

The leadership role includes a 10% allocation for administrative responsibilities within the service. The Chief Midwife will report directly to the System Chief of Midwifery, ensuring high-quality care alongside the midwifery team, managing scheduling, conducting monthly meetings, monitoring quality metrics, and fostering innovation as patient volume increases on the west side. Additionally, the Chief Midwife will engage in call duties and office responsibilities for 90% of their time. Candidate Requirements

Eligible candidates must fulfill the Certified Nurse Midwife qualifications for licensure in the State of Ohio.

  • Minimum of five years of recent experience as a CNM in a comprehensive care setting.
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications are required.
