Position Overview

Summary:
The Renewable Energy Finance (REF) division at Huntington National Bank is dedicated to initiating project financing and non-recourse agreements for renewable energy projects. This sector primarily emphasizes tax equity transactions in renewable energy, including wind, solar, storage, and other sustainable investments.

The REF division is in search of a skilled and driven Commercial Portfolio Manager to enhance the Renewable Energy Underwriting and Portfolio Management team. This organization collaborates with internal stakeholders to evaluate new transactions and oversee the current portfolio of loans, facilitating the growth of the Commercial Bank while ensuring a scalable and efficiently managed operation.

In close partnership with the origination team, clients, Relationship Managers, and the Credit Department, the Commercial Portfolio Manager will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing financial statements and engineering reports, assisting in transaction structuring, evaluating credit risk, preparing deal presentations, drafting credit approval memorandums, presenting recommendations to the credit committee, and aiding in the monitoring and management of the credit portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct financial modeling and analysis, pinpointing critical risks, assisting senior bankers with loan structuring and pricing, and preparing comprehensive written credit analyses.
  • Provide analytical, underwriting, and marketing support during the origination and execution of new lending opportunities.
  • Review loan documentation and due diligence materials thoroughly.
  • Implement all relevant credit policies and internal processes for the execution and funding of new transactions.
  • Cultivate relationships and establish credibility with key internal stakeholders.
  • Assist primary Portfolio Managers in maintaining accurate risk ratings, executing amendments, preparing monitoring materials, and performing other administrative tasks; may also support the training and development of analysts.
  • Participate in the annual review process as necessary, making recommendations for risk ratings in line with credit policy guidelines.
  • Monitor and assess ongoing compliance with financial covenants and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of the Bank's lending policies and procedures, identifying any exceptions to credit policy.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics, with a minimum of two accounting courses required.
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in an underwriting or commercial banking environment, focusing on project finance transactions in power and infrastructure projects; proficiency in financial modeling is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Highly motivated with the ability to thrive in both team-oriented and independent work settings.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The compensation range reflects the low and high end of the base salary for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on various factors, including location, experience, and performance. Colleagues in this role are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.
