Overview

At Dignity Health's Arizona General Hospital, we deliver exceptional patient care through a comprehensive range of health, social, and support services in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona.

As a member of our team, you will provide clinical expertise, support, and oversight to ensure our patients receive the highest level of care.

Responsibilities


As an ICU Nurse at Arizona General, you will monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury, surgery, or life-threatening disease.

You'll begin each shift by taking report from a nursing teammate before making your rounds. You'll provide continued care and perform procedures as detailed in the care plan.

This could mean assisting a physician with a chest tube or central line, providing wound care, ensuring patients undergo MRI or CT scans, or administering medications.

To thrive in this role, you'll heavily depend on your ability to multitask and react. You'll clinically care for your patients, remaining focused and attentive as you continuously monitor your patients throughout your shift.

You also serve as their advocate, supporting their best interests when they cannot. Your sound judgment during an emergency and rapid response are impressive, putting you on the radar for advancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort
  • Anticipates, identifies, and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families
  • Guides and directs healthcare personnel (i.e., Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients
  • Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices)
  • Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms as necessary
  • Initiates emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury)
  • Assists with patient care duties/tasks (i.e., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene)
Benefits

Dignity Health now offers an Education Benefit program for benefit-eligible employees after 180 days. This program provides debt relief and student loan assistance to help you achieve your goals.

Full-time employees can receive up to $18,000 over five years, while part-time employees can receive up to $9,000.

Advanced Practice Providers and Faculty Physicians can receive up to $90,000 if full-time and hired within a year of completing their residency or fellowship.

Part-time providers can receive up to $45,000.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • AZ State RN License or Compact State License
  • Current American Heart Association BLS for the Healthcare Provider
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred:

  • BSN
  • Two years recent acute care experience
