About the Position:

This is an advanced role that requires the ability to operate MRI machines with precision and accuracy, ensuring high-quality images are obtained for diagnostic purposes. The specialist will work closely with medical staff to ensure seamless patient care and will be responsible for maintaining equipment, adhering to safety protocols, and providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Pre-Procedure Preparation:
    • Review patient medical history, doctor's orders, and previous imaging studies to ensure accurate procedures.
    • Explain the MRI procedure to patients, addressing concerns and anxiety.
    • Verify patient identity and screening criteria to ensure safety.
    • Prepare the MRI room by ensuring the machine and equipment are ready.
  • Conducting MRI Scans:
    • Operate MRI machines, adjusting settings as prescribed by physicians.
    • Position patients on the MRI table, ensuring comfort and safety.
    • Administer contrast agents as needed, monitoring for adverse reactions.
    • Ensure patients remain still during scans to obtain clear images.
  • Patient Safety and Comfort:
    • Verify patient safety during scans, especially regarding strong magnetic fields.
    • Keep patients informed and provide reassurance during scans.
    • Monitor patients' conditions, including vital signs, during scans.
  • Post-Procedure Care:
    • Assist patients off the MRI table after procedures.
    • Provide post-procedure instructions and care.
  • Maintenance and Equipment Care:
    • Regularly calibrate and maintain MRI machines.
    • Clean and disinfect the MRI suite and equipment.
  • Collaboration with Medical Team:
    • Communicate effectively with medical staff to ensure accurate image transmission.
    • Work with radiologists to review images and assess patient conditions.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping:
    • Document patient information and scan results accurately.
    • Ensure imaging data is properly labeled and uploaded.
  • Radiation Safety and Protocols:
    • Follow guidelines for handling contrast agents and equipment.
    • Adhere to radiation safety standards for other imaging technologies.
  • Professional Development and Training:
    • Stay current with the latest MRI technology and scanning techniques.
    • Participate in continuing education programs to improve skills.
