Role Summary:

The Veterinary Support Associate plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional care to animals within our Veterinary Clinic. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including assisting with medical procedures, providing nursing care, and ensuring the overall health of shelter animals under the guidance of our veterinarians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with clients and fellow staff regarding the health and treatment of animals.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment logs in accordance with organizational protocols.
  • Collaborate with veterinary staff to implement vaccination and treatment plans.
  • Assist in animal examinations, ensuring proper restraint and care during procedures.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
  • Provide triage for incoming animals requiring immediate medical attention.
  • Conduct in-house laboratory tests and assist with radiographic procedures.
  • Ensure cleanliness and safety in the clinic environment, adhering to sanitation protocols.
  • Support the training of interns and volunteers in veterinary practices.
  • Participate in euthanasia procedures when necessary, with compassion and professionalism.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Prior experience in animal handling is essential.
  • A minimum of two years in a veterinary clinic or animal shelter setting is required.
  • Certification as a Veterinary Assistant or relevant education in veterinary technology is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move animals weighing 25 pounds or more regularly.
  • Capable of performing tasks that require physical stamina, including standing for extended periods.
  • Exposure to animals and potential allergens in the workplace.
