Occupational Therapist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in helping patients recover from injuries or illnesses and regain their independence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and treat patients using standard occupational therapy procedures.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to enhance motor, sensory, cognitive, and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborate with attending physicians to establish patient therapy goals and implement programs to achieve those goals.
  • Document patient treatments, initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with established departmental and service line policies and protocols.
  • Attend interdisciplinary team conferences and meetings to consult with other team members regarding patient treatment and program development.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • One year of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Current license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Michigan.
  • Initial certification or eligibility for certification with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
