Position Title: Assistant Professor (CRNA) - Nurse Anesthesia

Institution: Cizik School of Nursing, UTHealth Houston

Location: Texas Medical Center-Houston, Texas

Position Overview:
The Jane and Robert Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston is seeking candidates for full-time or part-time, tenure or non-tenure clinical track positions at the Assistant Professor level within the Department of Nurse Anesthesia. The selected faculty member will play a crucial role in educating and supervising nursing students specializing in Nurse Anesthesia.

Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the development and enhancement of the curriculum.
- Collaborate with course faculty regarding student assignments, requirements, and performance.
- Assess and provide constructive feedback on student progress in accordance with established protocols.
- Identify challenges and work with course faculty to devise effective solutions.
- Serve as a professional mentor and resource for students.
- Ensure adherence to university and student policies.
- Engage in direct patient care through clinical practice opportunities with affiliated healthcare institutions.
- Demonstrate a strong potential for establishing a funded research program while maintaining a teaching workload (for tenure-track faculty).
- Maintain an active area of scholarship (for clinical track faculty).

Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD.
- Eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse and advanced practice recognition in Texas.

Preferred Experience:
- At least one year of full-time nursing practice experience.
- Prior experience in leadership, education (clinical or didactic), or clinical simulation within the field of nurse anesthesia.
- A robust clinical background coupled with teaching experience.
- For tenure-track candidates, preference will be given to those who have completed a funded post-doctoral fellowship or have a history of Federal funding as a primary investigator.
- Familiarity with course management systems.

Certifications and Skills:
- NBCRNA certification as a CRNA.
- Willingness and capability to instruct in advanced pharmacology and physiology courses.
- Recent clinical anesthesia experience in an acute care environment.
- Active clinical anesthesia practice as faculty.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within an educational team.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students and faculty.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
