Position Overview

Role Summary

Reporting to the Budget Director of the Orleans School Board, the Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in the formulation of the annual District Level Formula Allocation and oversees the monitoring of enrollment demographics across various student groups within NOLA Public Schools.

Compensation

Annual Salary Range: $50,400 - $78,735

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Finance Support Officer and Budget Director in the creation, implementation, and oversight of annual budgets to ensure compliance with state regulations and accurate budget publication.
  • Assist in preparing for audits as necessary.
  • Process and finalize budget documentation to meet state law requirements.
  • Analyze and connect extensive datasets to derive insights regarding students, educators, schools, and the overall educational system.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and OPSB policies concerning student funding.
  • Identify and address current or potential issues through regular data analysis, budget reviews, and financial documentation, providing actionable solutions.
  • Develop materials and visual representations to communicate data trends to stakeholders, focusing on enrollment patterns and local revenue fluctuations, alongside updates on Louisiana's Minimum Foundation Program.
  • Evaluate monthly budgeting and accounting reports to monitor expenditure controls.
  • Assist in coordinating and developing processes for capital, enterprise, and special revenue budget approvals.
  • Review the Budget Model for calculation inaccuracies and offer recommendations to the Budget Director.
  • Collaborate with external partners to enhance data initiatives in system planning and school investment strategies.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Education: A minimum of an Associate's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Experience: At least five years of relevant professional experience.

Required Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments within established guidelines and accepted practices.
Work Environment

The role is primarily office-based, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
