The Nursing Assistant plays a vital role in providing direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Essential Functions- Assist patients with mobility and transfer to and from wheelchairs, beds, and stretchers
- Make beds and change linens as necessary
- Assist with treatments and procedures as directed by the licensed nurse
- Assist with meals and nourishment, including feeding patients as needed
- Initiate or perform CPR in emergency situations
- Perform indwelling catheter care and apply Texas catheters
- Observe, report, and record urinary output, feces, and emesis
- Apply ice bags and collars, warm or cold unsterile compresses
- Take and record weights, temperatures, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure
- Give enemas and collect specimens
- Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients
- Perform skin care, including incontinence and decubitus care, as directed by the licensed nurse
- Observe patients on 1:1 or close observation status
- Apply protective and therapeutic devices
- Assist with post-mortem care
- Report any untoward or unusual occurrences to the licensed nurse
- Apply and assist in restraining patients, as directed by the licensed nurse
- Maintain patient rooms in a neat and orderly manner
- Transport patients safely via wheelchair or stretcher
- Carry out Body Substance Isolation in all patient care
- Give complete baths, partial bed baths, and assist patients with bathing or showering
- Take care of patients' teeth, dentures, nails, feet, and shave patients
- Store hearing aids, dentures, and eyeglasses safely
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6 months of experience in a hospital, long-term care, or rehabilitation setting preferred
- Current MA CNA certification and BLS required
