Inside Machinist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Inside Machinist to join our team at General Dynamics Electric Boat. As an Inside Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and machining components on manual and CNC lathes, mills, and other equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Setup and machining of components on manual and CNC lathes, mills, and other equipment
  • Precision measurement of part dimensions
  • Completion of hard-copy and electronic documentation
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 0-5 years of experience with CNC Machining setup, programming, or operating machines
  • Ability to work all shifts
  • Knowledge of blueprints and GD&T
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical School education
  • Successful completion of the Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board (EWIB) Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative training program
Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical detail drawings
  • Proficiency in the use of precision measuring tools
  • Computer literacy
  • Proficiency in shop mathematics
Physical Qualifications:
  • Climbing, color vision, crawling, heavy lifting, kneeling, light lifting, medium lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, twisting
Environmental Attributes:
  • Acids or alkalis, cold, dry, dusty, fumes, hot, inside, noise, oily
