Compensation:
Hourly wage ranges from $38.00 to $67.00.
The selected candidate will need to become a member of the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians (NABET) Local 51.
Role Summary:
We are in search of a skilled professional with 3-5+ years of experience in broadcast engineering to fill this position.
As a Radio Transmission Technician, your primary duties will include the inspection, repair, and maintenance of all radio broadcasting equipment, which encompasses transmitters, studio apparatus, satellite downlinks, and automation systems.
Your knowledge in IT and networking will be crucial as you offer basic IT assistance and resolve equipment-related issues.With a solid understanding of digital audio transmission and streaming technologies, you will help maintain our competitive edge in the industry.
Key Duties:- Inspect, repair, and maintain radio broadcasting equipment
- Address equipment failures and technical challenges
- Perform routine diagnostic tests and document maintenance procedures
- Troubleshoot broadcast equipment issues at the board level
- Provide IT support to users with varying levels of expertise
- Keep abreast of FCC regulations and guidelines
- Assist in the upkeep of station transmitter and EAS logs
- Hands-on experience with FM and HD transmitters
- Strong IT and networking skills
- Familiarity with digital audio transmission and streaming technologies
- Excellent time management and multitasking capabilities
- Proficiency in documentation tools such as Excel, Word, and Google Docs
- Strong communication skills, including active listening and interpersonal abilities; the capacity to communicate effectively with both operators and engineers is essential
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to provide on-call support 24/7 in the event of equipment failures
- Capability to inspect, repair, and maintain all broadcasting equipment, including transmitters, antennas, satellite downlinks, automation systems, studio equipment, remote equipment, generators, telephone systems, audio routing systems, consoles, etc.
- Familiarity with production and newsroom asset management systems (experience with Dalet Galaxy is a plus)
- Experience with automated master control systems
- Knowledge of digital routing systems and consoles
- Proficiency in remote PC access tools
- Experience with industry-standard DAWs
- Understanding of digital audio standards
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Visio
