Description:
Outpatient Imaging Affiliates is actively seeking a skilled CT Imaging Technologist for a PRN role at our outpatient imaging facility. The position requires coverage during weekdays from 8 AM to 5 PM as needed.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Radiology Medical Director, the CT Imaging Technologist will:

  • Conduct computed tomography examinations and related procedures, generating sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Ensure that all services are delivered in a secure environment, adhering to established protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with the imaging center team, actively seeking and providing feedback to enhance clinical practices.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Receive, relay, and document orders—verbal, written, and electronic—in the patient's medical record.
  • Verify the patient's clinical history against the physician's order and procedure, ensuring all information is accurately recorded for use by a licensed independent practitioner. This may include confirming informed consent, if necessary.
  • Assume responsibility for patient care during procedures.
  • Identify, prepare, and position patients, competently performing procedures using established CT protocols or as directed by a licensed independent practitioner to ensure optimal image quality.
  • Apply ALARA principles to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Perform venipuncture and maintain intravenous access as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Identify, prepare, and/or administer medications as directed by a licensed independent practitioner, in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality, ensuring proper identification is recorded.
  • Provide education to patients, students, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Engage in ongoing quality assurance activities.
  • Conduct POC Creatinine clearance testing in accordance with established CT protocols or as directed by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Assist with interventional computed tomography procedures, applying appropriate aseptic techniques as necessary.
  • Select suitable CT technical exam factors, considering established protocols and other factors affecting data acquisition parameters.
  • Instruct students and residents as required and perform preceptor duties as necessary.
  • Maintain the clinical area by ensuring exam rooms, equipment, and supplies are clean and ready for use.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Manipulate and reconstruct digital data for display or hard copy records, ensuring proper identification is evident.
  • Maintain archival storage of digital data as appropriate.
  • Assist in managing supply inventory.
  • Proactively support other modalities or areas of the Imaging Center as assigned or when workload permits.
  • Consistently apply AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explain, Thank) and HEAL (Hear, Empathize, Apologize, Leap into action) principles when interacting with patients and customers.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-services, and center-wide meetings as scheduled.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:
  • Up to 5 years of experience as a CT Imaging Technologist.
EDUCATION:
  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Radiology or graduation from an accredited two-year radiology program.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography and maintain current valid registration from ARRT. Must also possess a CT advanced registration through ARRT or obtain it within the first 12 months of employment. Additionally, must meet the state licensure requirements for the state of practice. BLS certification is required within 60 days of hire.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Proficient in operating CT equipment and applicable ancillary devices.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Capable of providing accurate and concise documentation.
  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, radiopharmacology, and medical terminology.
  • Knowledgeable in computer applications, including information and billing systems, keyboard input, digital archiving, and data retrieval.
