Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our Adult Learning Program at the Brooklyn Public Library. The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of high-quality education services to adult learners, providing support and guidance to help them achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Learning Support: Assist in the delivery of reading and writing instruction, and provide individualized support to students to help them develop math, reading, and writing skills.
  • Program Coordination: Collaborate with instructional staff and case managers to support the needs of participants, and assist with outreach, registration, assessments, and follow-up activities.
  • Record-Keeping and Data Entry: Maintain accurate records of participant attendance and progress, and enter data in a timely manner.
  • Program Evaluation: Assist in the evaluation of program effectiveness, and provide feedback to instructional staff and program administrators.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Experience: Successful experience working in an adult education learning environment, with a strong knowledge of ABE/HSE skills and ability to work with multiple types of learning management platforms.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
Working Conditions

This is a part-time grant-funded position, with a maximum of 19 hours per week at $25 per hour. Work schedules may vary, and the successful candidate will be required to travel to multiple locations as needed.
